Apollo 13 is one of the first collaborations of director Ron Howard and actor Tom Hanks. This film is in many ways unique, primarily due to the fact that in the almost complete absence of any action and negative characters, it calmly holds the attention of the audience and forces them to empathize with local characters. And the box office of about $ 355,000,000 proves once again that if the director is good and approaches the project with dignity, then even the most boring movie from the point of view of the script will seem something ultradynamic.
When watching a movie, there is attention to the smallest details. After viewing, it seems as if you now know the whole process of taking off the shuttle, and what to do in the event of an accident. Ron Howard very seriously approached the reconstruction of the atmosphere of that time. The interests of people, clothes - nothing makes one doubt that the screen shows exactly those times when astronaut Neil Armstrong reached the Moon and America acquired many of his followers who wanted to repeat the success of the great astronaut.
In many ways, of course, the film is obliged to local characters. In order to achieve maximum empathy, the director deliberately devotes almost the first forty minutes of the film to the disclosure of the characters of the main characters, breathes life into them, and only after that sends them to an ordeal. And the fact that this story takes place in real life gives all these events an even more dramatic cast. You begin to genuinely admire the courage and resilience of the astronauts who did everything to return to their families. They have kept the honor of their country!
Not least the success of the film owes its actors. Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, Gary Sinise, Ed Harris - the cast is truly stellar and I think it was an honor for them to play the roles of American heroes. Real, not fictional, on their own skin survived the accident on the ship Apollo 13. The character of Tom seemed very close to me. His obsession and desire to go to the moon, to repeat Armstrong's success, I think, touched every man who dreams about something. And from the local music of James Horner really want to cry and hope that this story will end well. I'm afraid to even imagine how much the families of these astronauts were experiencing and I think that Kathleen Quinlen absolutely deservedly received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She tried as accurately as possible to convey the feelings that a loving wife feels when her husband is in trouble.
Apollo 13 is a heroic, well-tailored and very dramatic disaster film, which not only tells about the real feat of the American astronauts, but also about how important his dream is for a person, and what he is ready to go to realize it. I was very hooked on this film and I just can’t put less than a dozen. See and admire friends.
