I liked this film because of its originality, because this movie cannot be compared with any other films. Having seen this film, I noticed a lot of drawbacks, but it’s very strange that after it I had only positive emotions.
My opinion
The plot seemed to me more unusual than the film itself. There are too many stamps in the picture. At first, for the first twenty minutes, the action developed quickly, but later it became somewhat boring for me to continue to look at how the main character wandered from corner to corner, not knowing where he would “warm up”, it was terribly annoying! I didn’t like the poster I looked at even more, and I want to ask this question: “My God, who made it?” Most of all, I didn’t understand the essence of the film. The only thing that could be understood was that there was some half-vampire who was apparently chosen ... But nothing particularly, for which he could have been elected, I didn’t notice in him, and he didn’t look like a freak at all. Yes, the "great" director Paul Weitz tried.
It is noticeable that the film "The Story of a Vampire" is very often compared with such paintings as "Twilight" and the rest of the pictures about vampires. And I think that this movie can not be compared with other similar genres, because all the same, it is much different from others.
Camera work impressed in a good way. The film was built on bright pictures that caught the eye. Even in the most gloomy and night shots, the picture looked great. There were few special effects, but I didn’t have enough of them, but this is first of all fantasy, and secondly it is an action movie.
The cast "does not burn with popularity", so there is a lot to say about it and it will not work. John C. Riley, I think, played surprisingly well, although you can't call him a great talent, but I liked his game. Certainly I lacked something in the game of Josh Hutcherson, as for a negative character, he too overplayed and it seemed that he had just been released from the cage of a young fan, Ronnie Wood, or simply the boy began to star. Chris J. Kelly played well, and the actor himself came out attractive. The rest of the actors played normal, despite the fact that their roles were minor.
The budget of 40 million dollars, was not spent in vain, Paul Weitz skillfully distributed this amount in the right direction.
In the end, it turned out a good movie, which is not subject to the second viewing. The film cannot be called a masterpiece, but it does not deserve a low mark.
