Little Rogue and Kid

It so happened that my acquaintance with the silent cinema, and in particular with the films of Charlie Chaplin began only now. Now I understand that I have always been aware of what was happening, and now while I'm writing this review, all the iconic movies by Chaplin stand on the download. Also you can watch online that movie on Putlockers new site for free.

"Kid" was the first full-length film, which Chaplin took and the second film I reviewed from his work. At first I looked at the "Lights of the Big City" and was devilishly impressed, but the second film was "Kid".

I will say right away, the effect is the same - the devil's cool! I myself can not explain it. I'm not a fan of old movies, especially the movie that has already hit 94 years! And I would never have thought that such films would cause me such enthusiasm. I'm talking about a sincere impression and surprise from what I saw. Not because I'm singing a film of praise and I'm afraid to be a fucked tomato for non-forest words to the classics, but because it's true. The film is extremely positive emotions. It even seems to me if I tie a typical TP to the chair to the pain in my brain, it will feel at least a fraction of the depth of this picture with my chicken brain.

Such a movie can cause yes and causes any person at least some emotions. Of course he can push the viewer away from himself with his release year or so, this is a silent movie, but if you still watch the film, he will be remembered for a long time. Do you know why? Because such films are no longer being filmed. I'm talking about the fact that honesty and sincerity in contemporary films have disappeared right now and it's felt, just as in this film their presence is felt. Little Stroller and Kid just one gesture, mimicry or their actions, without a single word as if by the stroke of a magic wand play by spectators. Here they make them laugh, here worry, here cry or sad. And believe me, perhaps the most important and powerful thing that an actor can do, especially a silent movie. Try, without saying a word, forcing your friend to cry or just cry. Charlie Chaplin succeeded!

It's just worth watching "Baby" to understand what I'm talking about here and everything will become clear. I wish you to do this sooner. I also avoided such films in all ways and reasons, preferring something modern, and on the whole found something completely new in the distant old.

True affection

Charlie Chaplin. I do not like and respect anyone in the world of cinema as much as this most cheerful and sad comedian of all time. Realizing his creative plans, he acted as a director, actor, screenwriter, editor, composer and producer of his films, becoming a full-fledged creator of them and thereby proving how far human talent could stretch. But to call Chaplin simply gifted is not enough, because he was really a genius filmmaker. I recommen to you watch that movie online for free on Putlocker123 site.

His life was not easy: he grew up in poverty, his mother was seriously ill, and the boy had to grow up early, become independent and learn how to earn. From the mother, Charlie took over the ability to pantomime and learned, in his own words, "not only to express feelings with the help of movements of hands and facial expressions, but also to comprehend the inner essence of man." It was this ability that determined the future destiny of the young master, and to gain love and fame helped to a greater extent the image of the Rogue that literally fascinated the public. Despite all the vicissitudes, Charles managed not only to retain the light of kindness and humanity, but also to bring it to others. Imagination, observation and sincerity of the author still allow his tapes to reach people, touch the heart of any viewer.

"Kid" became the first feature film of the classic of cinema, remaining, according to the sensations, all the same short meter, when the viewing time flies by unnoticed. Here, as before, the master appeared in all his hypostases. The movie is in two dimensions: funny and sad. It can make not only burst out into laughter, but burst into tears. Connecting the comedy and drama Chaplin, being an idealist, always aspired to perfection. An interesting fact is that for the filming of "Baby" was wasted an incredible amount of film for that time, although less than 2% is included in the finished product.

In the partners in the film, Charles Chaplin chose the adorable Jackie Coogan and did not lose it: the boy liked the audience and excellently coped with the work in the frame. The role of Mother Baby was performed by Edna Perviens, who had previously worked with the maestro, who always knew how to choose beauties for his performances.

The plot tells of a poor slum dweller who got rid of loneliness, finding a small child left by his mother in the hope of finding new, well-off parents with his son. A wealthy family did not happen, but the former homeless child found a friend who, although not rich, but treated kindly, was trying for him. Together they will have to overcome a lot in order to gain a deserved happiness. The tramp has a real affection for the Kid, akin to the one that the real Chaplin had to the cinema.

My cinematography!

I'm not ashamed to go back to Charlie!
I'm not ashamed to go back to those whom I really love ...

Foreword

I have not watched Charlie Chaplin's films for more than five years. It was a bit scary, because I was reviewing some pictures (which I liked before), there was no more delight. After all, time goes by and everything changes, but I'm still confident in Chaplin's cinema by one hundred percent. I wanted to start a little with short films, but then I changed my mind. If you decide to return, then the full program and a whirlpool with a head. Therefore, one of Chaplin's most famous films ...

By the way, if you looking for where to watch free movies, i know the site - http://www.putlocker123.stream/.

Kid

The girl decides to get rid of the baby (the father threw, but there is no money), throws him into the car, which after a couple of seconds the bandits steal. Later they notice the baby and throw it in the trash. And then he appears! Some strange tramp in very funny pants and huge shoes. He has a bowler on his head, and a mustache under his nose. The tramp takes out a case, where he has an incomplete cigarette. He lights a match on the boot and lights next to the garbage can. It was there that the bandits left the baby. The tramp finds him and picks it up to get a closer look ...

This is how this incredible story begins, which conquered a large number of people around the world and continues to conquer. The film was released in the distant 1921, but even now it is very relevant. The real magic of cinema. Chaplin shot the film for all the new times. He was very popular at the time and collected a decent cash register. Chaplin was very fond of, so they went to see him at the cinema, but this is not the main thing. And the main thing here is that Chaplin managed to perfectly cross comedy and drama. "Kid" is an impeccable tragicomedy. And in general one of the best films in the world, where one of the main roles was played by a small child.

In the cinematograph there are a lot of pictures, where children play no worse than adults, but Chaplin was a pioneer. It is worth saying that his baby played just superb. There were even rumors that Chaplin allegedly took so much material that he would have enough for several films. Chaplin was still a perfectionist and always strived for the better. The boy was Jackie Coogan. He became very popular after the release of this film, so he continued to play in the movies and beyond. I now shock you, but it was he who played Uncle Fester (!) In the mind-blowing series "The Family Addams". I myself could not believe it at first, but it was he. Jackie set such a high bar with his acting that even now in some scenes you can cry.

As for Chaplin himself, his play is impeccable. He feels his image and understands it one hundred percent (half way behind). You can watch his facial expressions endlessly. "Kid" is considered the first full-length film by Chaplin. The film is about 55 minutes, and sweeps literally in a couple of seconds. You see, this is not just a good movie, which looked once and forgot. "Baby" is such a magnitude that even Chaplin himself was hard to reach it, but he still reached out, so he was a genius. Want to look at the genius Chaplin, then watch the movie "Kid". Such a movie can not be repeated or re-shot.

One of the most powerful films about the love of a man to a child. And most of all bribes, that it's not even the love of the father and son, but just a stranger. Yes, Chaplin understood perfectly what to press, so his film can not be forgotten. And just a few words about humor. This is a very funny film (not the most in Chaplin's career, but all the same). Look at the cup of Chaplin, when the kid gives him to kiss his toy. In this moment I smiled. And when the kid began to fight with the local boy, Charlie was proud of him before some peasant from the crowd. And in this moment I was already laughing all the time. And then I remembered why I love Chaplin so much, because it's the only actor in the world who can make me cry, and in a second I can laugh. And so on ad infinitum! Great movie!

Heartbreaking scene from the movie:

The 38th minute of the film. The kid screams, and Chaplin is held by representatives of the law and he can not escape in any way. It is impossible to look without tears. One of the most powerful scenes in the whole cinematograph ...

P.S.

Are you the father of this child?

Yes, practically ...

«A picture with a smile — and perhaps, a tear…"

The movie of Charles Chaplin, which can not be reshooted. The cinema of that time, which, probably, from all the cinematography - the most alive, present and "future" ...

I do not know if it's possible to call him the best movie. I do not even know which Chaplin cinema is best. Probably because he has one ... Cinema alive, present and "future" ...

Honestly, I can not understand why - maybe because it was the very beginning and now everything has gone too far, or because then there was not that other time - other people - but there is a fear that such a movie will cease to exist . In the extreme case, such a movie will simply stop shooting and releasing. Or, if it's more common to punch ... Yes, I do not even know if there are people for whom such a movie means anything at all ...

And now let the wind of changes and the train in which we are driving are blazing with fire, I want to hope that these 50 minutes will make someone feel, laugh and experience what they can not do ...

All that good modern cinema that we watch and love has long ago experienced those times when the cinema was even better ... And let the fact that "The Kid" was at the box office with incredible success "will give rise to arguments and arguments for those in any I saw this wonderful movie ...

And if we talk about the evaluation, which this film (yes, as well as other films of the director), it is senseless to give - symbolically I will estimate 9 points out of 10.

As you know, the "finished film included less than 2% of the footage," which is why this 1 point symbolizes what could be ...

Watch a good movie ...

Life lessons from Charlie Chaplin

This story is about two lonely and abandoned people who, despite all the life's troubles, remain one. This meeting, which occurred between the two main characters, was natural - after all, that the tramp Charlie, that the kid - people offended and unhappy. And therefore, having united once, they, as shown in the film, will never abandon each other. Dear vagabond Charlie, a man living every day, not building plans and projects for the future, did not even suspect that someone could throw a baby on the street unattended. Therefore, he did not dare take responsibility for the child for so long, because he himself was still in his heart.

In general, their cohabitation, I mean tramp and toddler, was similar to how two friends live together. Probably, Chaplin hinted at this fact that it is not the father and the son, but two brothers. Or he wanted to say that these are two kindred souls, two loners, abandoned and forgotten. But as it turned out later, the mother does not forget the baby and, ironically, she finds him in the poor quarter where he and Charlie lived five good and happy years. Suffice it to recall one moment when the character Jackie Coogan (baby) cooked pancakes, and Charlie, waiting for everything to be done, sat down at the table and began to share equally a portion of pancakes, one of which was more pancakes and the elder, seeing the injustice in the culinary section property, corrected this misunderstanding. In other words - what idyll and harmony reigned at that moment, what calm and happy faces, not at all alarmed by their poor social position. And this is the most that neither is true. The great Charles Chaplin wanted to say this picture: "Happy people in life need very little, the main portion of happiness, each of them carries within itself."

The film is subject to the world classics of cinematography and is included in the national film registry of the USA. True, the star on the Walk of Fame Chaplin was not installed as soon as he would have liked, only in 1972. And many expressed dissatisfaction - that supposedly "who is Charlie Chaplin, a cheap comedian and nothing else!" But Chaplin only wanted people to be people and do good in this world, like his character who picked up a baby and brought up a wonderful boy .

Two halves - funny and dramatic - are evenly combined into one tragicomedy film by Charlie Chaplin.

Two halves - funny and dramatic - are evenly combined into one tragicomedy film by Charlie Chaplin. In this genre, he knew the point, showing the audience something really funny on the background of something truly sad and touching.

"Kid" is Charlie Chaplin's first full-length film, which he created himself, without co-authorship. And no, when you look ridiculous Chaplin, there is no indulgence. No "we will make a discount that this is the 20s", too. Because it's funny. Outside of the political situation, beyond actual humor, and just like that, eternal visual gags with errands, falls, little tricks behind which hide long minutes of rehearsals. And I did not smile because it was so accepted and out of respect for Chaplin. And because it's really funny. You see, there, while Charlie slept and dreamed, a dog flew in. She stood for a couple of seconds, got her share of attention, and flew away. A dog in the costume of an angel. In the film of 1921-year Chaplin thought of such a long-eared dog-angel. I could not help but revise this sketch several times, it incredibly touches and amuses. And after that, do not say that Charles Chaplin - one of the greatest people in the history of cinema.

The dramatic half, of course, already loses its emotionality. If the funny laughs, causing some instinctive reactions, then the sad does not make you sad. And it was on the sad, I already looked with that same indulgence. Because the development of a dramatic line, hand in hand at heart, is still slightly naive. The woman becomes rich and famous and goes to distribute sweets and toys to children in the yard where her son lives under the care of a tramp. And it's kind of touching, but at the same time, too much for the script. Too "this is a coincidence!". At the same time, I understand that Chaplin would not mind if a sympathetic spectator would utter a couple of teardrops, looking at such a life of heroes. And in the preface to the film it was pointed out. I understand this, but, for example, the subtle touchingness of the later film "The Lights of the Big City" seems to me to be submitted much more elegantly. In "Baby", this drama is filed a bit clumsy and straight to the forehead. Abandoned child, juvenile justice, mother, who then rushes children, then suddenly becomes rich. Then still there were no TV series for housewives and these human dramas were touched much more strongly.

And the boy who played in the film, talent.

"When words are superfluous"

"Kid" is the first, full-length work of Charles Chaplin. And the first silent film in my life that impressed me so much.

The plot, given the era in which it was written, is quite original. And let now it looks rather simple, in comparison with modern cinema, there is a tangible number of positive qualities that are missing in our time.

Despite the poverty of the environment of the protagonist and his "little son", the screen and gives warmth and comfort. This is especially evident in the scene with the preparation of breakfast. And even the fact that the occupation of which these two earn their living is quite repulsive, their charm overrides all the condemnation that could arise.

Charlie Chaplin - the very splendor. For all the time of his stay in the image of a good simpleton, he is so united with his character that it is difficult to call a game, all that he does in the frame. The first time I see that the actor so lived a role. Bravo.

Jackie Coogan is a sweet creature, with a remarkable acting talent, which manifested itself in the dramatic scenes of the film with frightening naturalness. I did not expect such a quickness from the child! Great!

The only thing that caused the bewilderment - the scene with a dream. She was absolutely not appropriate in the given atmosphere of the picture.

Charles Chaplin for me, seemed an outdated clown, until I grew up, and did not see this movie. And what is most surprising, this dumb splendor brought me back to childhood, its simplicity, sincerity, and resting character.

From this movie, my acquaintance with Charlie Chaplin began. And I think that it will be long.

Laughter take the tears can only trigger a masterpiece.

Is there any people in the world who do not know the legendary comedian Charlie Chaplin? But it's unlikely that many of them have seen his films. I myself belonged to the type of people who knew perfectly well that Chaplin was a man with a hat and a short mustache, but the question of what he was after all was beginning to mutter incoherently about something about the world cinema. But everyone, absolutely everyone sooner or later comes up with the idea - we must stop living like this, we need to develop. It is after this thought that someone starts frantically flipping through various encyclopedias and reference books, someone reading books, someone learning languages, and someone ... just drives away stupid thoughts. But there are people who realize how many beautiful and unreviewed films there are in the world - this is how movie fans are born. No, I did not become it, I watched several films and calmed down, but what films they were.

"Kid" - this is the first full-length film by Chaplin, as a director. The film tells us about a boy thrown by his mother. As a result, the baby on the street found a vagabond Charlie. And after numerous attempts to attach it "better" Charlie decided to take it for himself. Modern cinema would have beaten it completely differently than Chaplin did. It's worth agreeing, the plot is just perfect for some cheap melodrama, but Charles made it a masterpiece. The film is dumb, hence all humor rests on falls, fights, criminals and evasions. I can not explain why it's so funny, unlike similar modern films. But not everything is so smooth, by the end of the film, a real tragedy unfolds, even the most stingy person can not restrain tears. It is very difficult for me to explain the feelings that I have. Extraordinary tide of tenderness at the sight of such a relationship of son and father. Charlie's sincere love for the boy causes tears of emotion, I apologize for my sentimentality.

If the film was shot in the early twentieth century, dumb, black and white, then of course, the main thing in it is acting. But it is incomparable here. I have never seen anything like this anywhere and never, even in real life, real emotions are not such a compelling, honest word. But there is also one thing - music, beautiful music that accompanies the whole film. By the way, the composer is also Charlie Chaplin - a man orchestra.

I would have been able to write a lot about this film, but it's also messy. One thing I can say for sure, after watching a lot of films by Charlie Chaplin, each of which is a masterpiece, I do not argue, but I was convinced that "Kid" is the best of them, therefore the best of the best. To look everyone, from five to hundred years. I am sure that such films can not but impress.

"I believe that the power of laughter and tears can become an antidote to hatred and fear"

Charles Chaplin. This name is familiar to me from early childhood. But that's strange, until today, I have not watched a single movie with this actor. This great personality. No, I certainly saw different excerpts from the films with his participation, but it does not count.

The story of the baby, who was already abandoned by his mother since birth, is already hammering at first sight. Jackie Coogan at the age of five showed on the screen high acting skills. This is not "Button" for you. Of course, it was hard for him to outdid Chaplin, since Charles in this film was simply beautiful, not having in his role words, he was able to create the brightest character of the film thanks to his mimicry and gestures. But most of all in this film I remember the atmosphere. This movie atmosphere of the time. Without falsity, superfluous scenes, this atmosphere shows us that this is really a movie, and not one great special effect. I would like to highlight the fact that this film made me smile more than once. At that time, the film could be made ridiculous and without vulgarity.

Of course, I could fill the review with some clever quotes, philosophical reflections, but I think that you already understood everything. This movie you need to see. After all, this is one of Chaplin's brightest works. In every frame lies the very "magic of cinema".

Charlie the educator

"Baby" - perhaps the most tragic of all the comical films of the great Charlie. Yes! There is in the picture the satirism inherent in the master. There is a place for freaks. But the plot of the film, viewed from a different angle, can be called, if not tragic, then certainly with acrid taste of social realism.

She gave birth to a child, but left him. Since her husband left her - the boy's father. Through multiple vicissitudes, the child finds himself in a trash can in some abandoned quarter on the outskirts of the city. And then you can greatly regret the little boy, letting the tear. But no! Then a slight, gaunt gait appears ... HE! A small vagabond with a great soul and without a penny in his pocket.

After looking at the scroll, he decided to grab it. In this case, also get into the suspicion of a careless policeman and a screaming woman. After taking it, he decides to leave the baby to himself. And here in this place there arises an extremely scrupulous problem, which our earthly globe suffered, suffers and will suffer. And this problem is raising a child! You see, native dads and mothers with ease, thrown to the ground, a handkerchief, leave their blood offspring. And here - bam! Some funny guy decides to raise another's child. And he will bring him up. Let on special - it is absurd, comical, but will bring up. He will protect him from both tenacious police hands, and from the hands of overseers from the shelter, and from other difficulties. Small spool but precious! But all this will happen later ... And now the tramp built him a "helper" (he hung a kettle with a teat on his nose, tied him to a cradle with a baby), and then gave a good sleep. After all, everything is still ahead. After all, life is not calculated in one day?

And now, after five years on the horizon appears quite a successful actress. This is the mother of our boy. And the guy lives and does not grieve. He will be able to cook for his father's paws, and run the showcase into the store window (the boy is beating, dad is repairing ... this is their "creative" business). And her soul wandered that quarter. This is her mission after work - to help the poor and disadvantaged. She sees the boy. Feeling something, the woman gives the child a plush dog and some other toy. And he something! Grabbed them poor. And well, play. Happiness for the child. After all, no one gave him any toys. Oh, dear! You should also have my mother in addition!

And he almost lost his father. Evil people have reported where it is required that the boy does not have good care and lives in a shack with some uncle. And as it happens, the noise rises, the police and the shelter workers. They told him - "Give the boy!" ... And he told them - "Neaaa!". They are a kid - to peck! And he - to run. They are behind him. And after that - Mr. Vagabond. Our heroes rushed from the guardians of order. And my father, resting himself, sat down on the porch. And he dreamed a dream wonderful.

The world of dreams of the hero Chaplin - an ideal world. There are people in angelic robes. All the kind and happy. Even the policeman does not look like himself. But, one day a couple of evil devils enter the paradise and make a confusion. He makes the vagabond beat off the bride's bride. Here the big man can not stand it and rushes over the face to the offender. Again, the noise and the racket. Running, chase. A policeman ... shoots a tramp. And the dream ends ... But what was that? A parody in the spirit of Chaplin - the director of "talking" scenes in silent cinema. A parody of Eden with Adam and Eve. He associates himself with the sinner. But is it a sin that he illegally raised another's child? No. He not only brought him up. He changed the negative orders and foundations that prevailed in society. He forced the woman to recognize the child. Let even in its unpretentious and bizarre manner.

Once again I repeat that the film is very light, despite its social significance. And it's in the spirit of Charlie - turn everything serious inside out, but at the same time leave it serious. Unclear? Then look Chaplin!

10 of 10

PS: And a couple of "thank you". The first - five-year Jackie Coogan for the brilliant role of the baby (not every child will agree to play in front of the camera). The second - again Chaplin. But this time - for a lyrical musical accompaniment. Yes Yes! Charlie was also a talented composer.

Favorite film of the decade: 1920s

Oh, the great playwright Charles Spencer Chaplin! Is it possible to call another the same most famous representative of the cinema? Yes, then such bright stars as Vivien Leigh, Humphrey Bogart, Marlon Brando, Al Pacino and Brad Pitt with Angelina Jolie will light up. But Chaplin, he stands on top of everyone else. His frenzied popularity and enormous influence on the masses through his films stood across the throat of rulers and governments. He, a man-orchestra, united the profession of a screenwriter, actor, director, editor and composer, and in each of them he was a professional with a capital "P". I think if he could, he would have been his own operator. He came to the cinema in the middle of the 1910s, and already in the early 20's began to create not just talented films (like, for example, "Dog life"), but masterpieces.

"Baby", created in 1921 - a masterpiece. One of Chaplin's best films in his entire career. A simple story about how a homeless baby saved from death and brought up by the Little Rogue, probably conquered billions of hearts all over the planet. Here the comedy, which Chaplin already embodied, faced a deep drama. The drama of fatherhood, motherhood, homelessness, justice and many other things. This picture is much deeper than all previous Chaplin creations. Here the author asks more serious questions, confronts the characters in more complex conflicts, builds the narrative from the outset to the culmination in such a thorny way that the inner state of all the characters changes radically from beginning to end. The story begins with a hopeless situation, and ends ... However, you should see for yourself, and if you have already seen the film, then you will agree with me.

All the film-makers know that it's hardest to shoot animals and children, wanting to achieve from them what was planned on paper. Chaplin coped well with both of them (more about animals in the same "Dog life"). Kid Jackie Coogan played his role perfectly, becoming one of the most famous children in the history of cinema. And the merit of Chaplin himself is great here. The shooting took a little more than 150 (!) Days - an unprecedented number for the 1920s. And the same unprecedented number of takes (only 2% of the footage included in the film). However, the rest of the actors did not just work out their salary. Edna Perviens talentedly embodied the image of a woman who lost her child after his birth through his own fault, and why was incredibly grieved. Jack Coogan Sr. (the real father of the Toddler) played two roles. Well, do not forget about the young and quite talented Lita Gray, the future wife of Chaplin.

In general, the production of the picture is still at the highest level. In the 70's Chaplin wrote the author's soundtrack for the film, and in 2011 the picture was included in the National Register of US films. So, Chaplin's unforgettable masterpiece "Kid" became the brightest film production of the 1920s and remains for almost a century now.

A great and unshakable thing is kindness.

Undoubtedly, Charlie Chaplin is once again a genius. The genius of the film industry, filmography, the plot, the world as a whole. "Baby" is a small piece of good, just like this ... a masterpiece can and should be characterized. Despite the fact that the film implies a drama, those notes of the comic, founded by Chaplin, make their everyday character, which makes it easier. Uncomplicated pictures and roles of this little man, who embodied a brilliant, funny, interesting way to life, without using words - this one quality is worth exorbitant work, talent, and after praise. To show people that there is good in the world and it is necessary to fight for it, it must be used in everyday life, do not forget that in the world there is already a horror: wars, bribery, corruption, and everything that can sometimes be necessary for a person is a piece sincerity, kindness, such a light simplicity that is reflected in the film "The Kid".

Chaplin took pictures of the beauty of human relations, life, life itself, which at least sometimes it is necessary to give an easy and free exhalation and relaxation. The film evokes the most pleasant sensations and emotions, such that you want to review again and again just to make sure that everything in life is not accidental, it's no coincidence the child was exactly where Charlie was going at the right moment. It is no coincidence that he once fell ill, the result of which was a maternal find, so necessary to the heart and joyful.

Chaplin knew and believed that peace is the power where good always wins, mercy condescends, hope does not die, and the world itself is joy, happiness, love, this is the place where we must live and experience the entire charm of life.

Are you his father? — Practically yes.

The fact that Charlie Chaplin is the greatest genius of art, the creator, the source of the inspiration of millions and just a good man has been written many times and therefore I do not need to emphasize this once again.

The film struck me to the core. Baby is probably the best film about a parent's love for his child, which I have ever seen. Let even this parent not native. Let even some kind of a tramp. But all the same the parent. "Kid" is looking for the answer to one of the most important questions in life: is it worth something to the tears of the baby or not? Is it possible to treat children against their will? Of course, each of us knows the answer to this question, but in life we rarely understand that he stands before us.

The film is worthy of the most flattering reviews, if only for the fact that without a single word, with a black and white picture, with the minimum number of characters makes one look at one's breath, being afraid to break off or lose something! In fact, even 80 years after its creation, it is as much (if not more) relevant and alive. Interesting and informative.

"The Kid" (The Kid, 1921) - both sad and fun

Yes, yes, it was with this American silent film that I decided to resume my work, half-yearly interrupted by entering the university, getting acquainted with the cinema. In general, "Baby" I first saw on the channel "Culture", even when it was very small. He made a great impression on me, I really cried. For example, in the place where the poor Mother (Edna Perviens) leaves her child in a rich car and runs to the park with tears. And I also laughed, with all my heart. And not over all vulgar and evil jokes, as it often happens now, but over real, kind, sometimes satirical, sometimes social, humor. This is the whole genius of Charles Chaplin, who in this film acted as the author of the script, and the director, and the producer, and, of course, the performer of one of the main roles.

I want to note the remarkable acting game of Jackie Coogan, the future of Fester from the "Adams Family".

This is an ideal film that opened a new era not only in the work of Chaplin, but in all the cinema. Despite the fact that "Baby" is about ninety years old, it's very easy to watch it. Quickly get used to the musical accompaniment, and to the plates instead of words. You perceive the film as modern. Usually, I evaluated the old films, making a discount for the year of release in the rental. For "Baby" this discount is not required.

And if someday you also have a desire to get acquainted with the silent cinema, or, perhaps, the creativity of the astounding comedian Charles Chaplin, it is necessary to start with this film. "Kid" - for me a work of art of cinema, created for ages.

10 out of 10 (definitely)

Charles is a diamond without a diamond

The film "The Kid" is the first full-fledged work of the world famous Charles. I call him the Man-smile, and his films - the dawn of cinematography, his birth and gaining true significance in the age of cultures. Fervent Chaplin is not only an amusing character in ragged clothes that gets into ridiculous situations and makes spectators laugh at their antics, Chaplin is a satire on the social life of the 20th century, on the 21st century society, on a society that, however it has been perfected and not complicated technically, still remains alone with age-old problems. These are the problems of inequality, loneliness, love, misunderstanding, friendship, betrayal. All this will exist in any society. And, undoubtedly, the talented Chaplin presents these "eternal themes" in his tapes quite sincerely and that is very important - in a positive way!

Strikingly, in fact, the tape was shot in 1921, it turned out a black and white picture, without sound, with a minimum of words in the credits, but the feelings when viewing appear inexplicably naturally, and this proves that the birth of real art did not have to be unnecessary. Talent in its pure form. Diamond without cut.

The plot of the film is simple. The mother, abandoned by her "friend", from despair, despair, and, in the end, from disorderlyness and, apparently, not quite clear awareness of what is happening, leaves the child born in a car standing at a rich estate. In the diaper the mother leaves a note: "Love and take care of the orphan." It's funny. The problem of fear of responsibility is one.

The child will not be in one pair of frightened hands, while accidentally does not please the restless ragamuff Charles. Of course, the poor fellow is not happy with the uninvited guest, but what can you do? Reading the note, his heart contracts. Here it is compassion - it's two. The person-smile is engaged in education of the "foundling", takes care of him, father's love in pure form - three. And how many comical and tragicomic situations this couple got, but how desperately they defended each other from the rest of society! Devotion and responsibility are four. The film has absorbed all the best feelings, it is pointless to list them. You just need to look once.

And the blond, disheveled kid, whose role belongs to Jackie Coogan, really leaves only the emotion and some irresistible desire to burst into tears when he kisses his only beloved Chaplin, at a time when they want to be separated.

The only negative, in my opinion, is the protracted dream of Chaplin with a very strange story. However, it is senseless to evaluate films of incipient cinema, let alone a talented Human smile. So just thanks: for the mood, for the atmosphere, for the feeling of love.

Look, enjoy, love!

Please, shelter a poor orphan ...

You dive as if into a black and white fairy tale, impregnated with tenderness, affection and kindness. This story without any quotations, so to speak: everything is clear and understandable. Even without words. Only penetrating music and a wonderful game of actors. Theater of Life.

The film looks in one breath and not because it is of short duration, but because it is so sensitive and sincere that anyone can understand it.

Three "What" about the content of the film:

1) What does the mother feel, who because of her poverty is forced to give the child to a rich family, since she herself is not able to feed him?

She is desperate. She's crushed. It's broken. But nothing can be done about it ...

2) What should a normal passer (a simple glazier) do if he sees a baby lying on the road?

Of course, shelter it. Well, after several attempts to give this opportunity to others ...

3) What does the father feel when they try to deprive their son?

The same as the poor mother, forced to leave her child. BUT he (father) will do everything possible to not lose it ...

Although this film is older than us several times, it is the same order for us to be wiser. This is not just a philosophy. Here we see the philosophy of the soul. And to understand another's soul, it is not necessary to think about its meaning. You just need to feel it. Like this movie.

Charlie Chaplin, thank you very much for such a touching movie! As if magically moved at a time when this film was filmed. 88 years have passed, and viewer's opinion has not changed ...

Thank you for the present smiles and for the good mood!

I recommend to view!

That's funny. It is sad…

A brilliant film!

Why do I think so? There are many answers to this question. But first you should pay tribute to Charlie Chaplin, who always, in each of his paintings can at one time and laugh, and teach something clever. Chaplin is a genius, and almost every his work is just as ingenious. Despite the fact that the film "Kid" was filmed in 1921, it looks as easy as modern movies. I looked at it in one breath, and did not have time to blink an eye, as the final credits are already on.

This film tells how a tramp Chaplin finds an infant in the street, does not even find it, but throws it. All attempts to get rid of the baby turn out to be futile. Later, the Tramp and the Kid become good friends, but the problem is that the child is not his, but the parents, sooner or later there will be. And it happens. But, once trying to get rid of the Baby, the Tramp already does not want to grow with him ... Is it so easy to keep the baby? Yes, the plot of the film can not draw on the "Oscar", but teaches a lot, and at the end of the movie in general I want to cry.

Only Chaplin could keep the viewer from the beginning and the end of the film, frozen at the screen, and at the same time not utter a word. It's a talent. Such people are born once in a century. Let everyone worship Pattinson and Depp, I will continue to admire the brilliant Chaplin. This film is only 68 minutes, but during this time you can catch and laugh, and cry, and learn something new for yourself, and have a good time. Many creators do not have enough for all this and three hours.

The game of actors is insanely good, Charlie Chaplin is great, and even more so here he is in the familiar image of the Rogue. You believe his game, and during the movie you can not even imagine who this person is outside of the set? At the moment, he is a tramp, a desperate street resident. The second major role in the film, the role of the kid is played by Jackie Coogan, who himself has long been no kid, moreover, who is no longer with us (Earth down). But he plays his part perfectly. There is nothing to complain about, but I do not want to find fault with such a Masterpiece.

Conclusion: There's nothing to say. If you have not watched this movie - immediately correct the mistake, but otherwise what kind of movie are you? This picture has long been a cult, and one of the best works of Charlie. So I do not advise you to miss this movie by yourself. Enjoy watching!

"Put a quarter in the gas meter"

Kind, wonderful, amazing movie.

At the heart of the film is a drama about a mother who left her child to the mercy of fate. He is picked up by Charlie, takes care of him, teaches, despite his poor life. But all the burdens of life - this is not a reason to lose heart!

Charlie Chaplin paints dark colors around his good humor. How sweet and naive, ridiculously and wittily touching the soul comedian comes up with a lot of funny, funny, naive moments in the film. "Put a quarter down in the gas meter," Charlie says, and after that Johnny takes out a tin box from the counter and takes out a trifle from there. Or a child's fight with the local courtyard hooligans, where Charlie prepares the child for the next round, as a real boxer. Particularly pleased with the joint, family business of Charlie and the baby, unless only the hardest person will smile at this moment in the film. Of course, not only that, everything in this film deserves praise.

In the silent film there is no excess, all that happens is important. There are no words, but much is said, that words will not be conveyed accurately enough. Touch the soul of the episodes, when the kid is trying to take away from Charlie, they make us feel together with the great master of silent movies.

Fortunately, at the end of the movie, everything bad is behind us, my mother finds her child. BUT a real father, of course Charlie. It was the one who was not afraid to take on all the responsibility, did not fail and adequately experienced all the difficulties together with the beloved baby.

All is well that ends well and this inimitable film ends with a happy ending.

#400

Making their way through the dirty streets, trying to avoid the places where the police gather, Little Rogue desperately tries to survive in this cruel world, trying to earn something on a piece of bread, trying to keep his modest belongings and protect his collapsing apartment. In this cruel world, the vagabond only remains, that wandering in search of earnings. It has long been time to forget about some relations and friendship, he does not keep hope for it, because you just need to continue to be in this beggarly district where the crime for crime is teeming, and the residents are trying to snatch themselves an extra piece without looking at the humanity.

One day during a morning walk, avoiding dangerous places without causing any inconvenience to anyone, the tramp took out a bull-calf from his cigarette, intending to smoke, and then he noticed on the ground a small bundle resembling a parcel or package with some content, it was newborn baby wrapped in a blanket. Dityo shouted that there was urine, not understanding why his mother left him at birth, the child's body did not yet know that in this life he will be waiting for a lot of unpleasant surprises. Trying to someone, not knowing, in fact, who to return the child to, Charlie Chaplin's hero, realizing that all attempts are futile, takes the poor fellow himself, having started to show really strong feelings towards him.

And so were the weeks, months, years, the child named John, played by the little Jackie Coogen, looking in a black and white and silent frame just brilliant, at such a young age masterfully mastering his facial expressions, feelings, this is a real find from Chaplin. John grew up getting the necessary care, and the most important is the never-ending and only increasing love from Charlie. Already a 5-year-old boy could not imagine another life that would flow outside this shabby apartment, this district, this town, and most importantly, without a father who did absolutely everything for the growing child in his power.

Charlie Chaplin, feeling that he can do other than acting, and also directing, and do it more than just successfully, took his first feature film in 1921. The work on the film was very painstaking, Chaplin nurtured his project like that child himself, and as a result, even numerous difficulties did not prevent the publication of a tape called "The Kid".

This work was successfully received by spectators and critics, it was in demand in cinemas. For Charles Chaplin himself, it was like a reward for all the torments that he was being given by the company under the contract with which the film was made and even former wife Mildred Harris, who was trying to seize the footage already filmed with the help of legal proceedings. Chaplin, in order to calmly engage in films, was forced to hide, so that everything turned out exactly as he himself wished.

Charles Chaplin got a picture that is full of tragedy to the brim, and at times it just reaches its climax and the viewer struggles to keep back tears. The director deliberately brought down two lonely souls who were not needed by anyone in this world, but eventually became one for the other, as a support, assistants capable of adding some minimum amount of good to this world. And fate with every second starts to throw this couple more and more new tests, wanting to test for strength their connecting bridge.

Charlie Chaplin, in addition to providing his offspring with his own quality play, young talent and all the tricks and tricks that he loved, he created a life dramatic story, in the center of which there are weak people who can survive only together, together. This film is about how strong from time to time there can be a human love, if it is trying to stop it, to resist. "The Kid" is an imperishable classic for all time.

Good souls

Each of us, even if we are confident in the future, have enough problems, the solution of which is a very long process. Therefore, not everyone wants to take on the problems of strangers and try to help a stranger more than himself. And now, not for the first time, the majority is united by a single and probably the most terrible problem - indifference.

Ostrosotsialnye motifs have long been heard in the films of Charlie Chaplin. He boldly shows life as it is, not hiding the most unfortunate moments. Poverty, fear, survival, prejudice of others are just a small list of what people with whom poverty lives together face. She often pushes on the most ill-considered acts, for example, leaving a newborn near the house of the rich who will be able to ensure his future. But even under such circumstances, everything in life does not go as we would like. The study of this topic by a talented filmmaker turned into a tragic story about an abandoned boy and his good patron who, despite all the difficulties, was not afraid to help a defenseless baby.

The protagonist, a small orphan, found in the face of his father's merry vagabond. Quite young Jackie Coogan plays his heavy and serious role remarkably. At such a young age, he conveys complex feelings so distinctly that not even all adult actors are able to get along so well with the image. Jackie with all responsibility went to the role of a poor orphan, because he had someone to equal.

Charlie Chaplin continues to develop the image of a lonely vagabond. His good heart again destroys the idyll of bachelor life. No one who finds the needed finds is the only concern and joy. The tramp is so used to the baby that he becomes his named father. After all, he is raising a boy, giving him food, shelter over his head and, most importantly, his father's love.

Edna Purvins also plays an important role in the film. She is a mother who could not resist the cruel world and left the child to the mercy of fate. But when luck returned to her, she devotes all her strength to needy people, and especially to children.

The experiences and sorrows of the characters of the film will not leave the viewer indifferent. Without words, only with the help of facial expressions, actors tell us a very touching story. One of the most heartbreaking moments is the attempt of the senseless authorities to divide the boy and the tramp. In this scene, in the eyes of Jackie and Charlie, unlimited grief is reflected.

A few funny episodes cause good emotions, but the music, in which the notes of sadness and suffering are woven, does not allow to laugh for a long time. The film is a delightful drama about everything that is important for us today - about kindness, love, repentance and reunion. There are many things here that make you think about your actions and their possible consequences. Charlie Chaplin with the help of his gift appeals to the audience through many decades, leaving them hope for a brighter future. But this is the most valuable thing that cinema can give. Bravo, Charlie!

Closing your eyes to other people's problems is the easiest way. It is more difficult to approach a needy person and give him a helping hand. After all, this is a great responsibility, but no less reward will be waiting ahead - finding this true and faithful friend in the person of this poor stranger.

Cinema: small and great.

The First World War took away much from the world and left as much. People died, there were dead bodies. Houses were erased, gray ruins settled. Happiness split, sorrow concentrated. The threshold of the Second World War. A distant but loud alarm. Dark days have come dark. Regeneration after the difficult war years was going on. The interval between the two terrible wars was a time of respite, spared the high powers, giving them a break from the military "exercise". During this time, an emotional cyclone has formed over people, mixing joy, sadness, fear and hope into one substance, from which a strange atmosphere is born. The darkness of apathy and the inevitable approach reigned in society. It's good that the cure for the bitterness was the movie ...

... and saw the world of Chaplin. If we rely on the light mystery, let's call it the divine sending down of a great man, a living synonym for "cinema", a harmonious personification of the comic and feelings. Over the years, from the beginning of the rich 20th century, Charles Spencer Chaplin gave the public a smile. The audience, who met Charlie's talent, belonged to different circles and social strata. Young Charlie acted on stage shoulder to shoulder with frank improvisation, earned money, took care of his mother, and people admired a small miracle, promising him wide fame and not suspecting that they were telling undeniable truth. Thorny thorns and hedges did not prevent Chaplin from getting out of the ravine of difficulties. On a tray of young years, fate presented him with a whole set of tests, which he overpowered with a manly will to his goals. First, the theater and music halls, then - the cinema. Before our hero opened the gates in the United States, a wonderful country of opportunities, no matter how trite it sounded. Still, Chaplin told us about this when his role shifted from the ordinary role of "comedian" to the vocation of "master of cinema".

The spectator liked to look at Charlie Chaplin, who performed in short films. Rather, he did not love him, but the image. Blown pants, clown shoes, a bowler hat, a cane with a right hand and, of course, a micro-mustache. The formula of the classic Rogue, which has become an untouchable example of a comic-lyrical character of all times, peoples and dimensions. The tramp did not appear anywhere. He was inside Chaplin. The actor went into the make-up room, and then in him a rare, instinctive inspiration arose, extending his hand to ordinary, but in combination, bright and eccentric things. Why pants and shoes? They make the Tramp awkward. Why a bowler and a cane? They create the character of a gentleman. Finally, why the mustache? They "round up" the face of the hero, make him a childlike adult, unnaturally important and at the same time ordinary. With the Tramp, Charlie Chaplin made his way to the expanses of directing and scripting. Ambitions flared up in him with every year of work on the set, and now he could realize all his ideas, explore the delights through the film camera film, and not the screen of the finished film. Undoubtedly, on that day, when Charlie was given a chance of self-expression, he was happy incredibly.

"Baby" is the first work of the maestro. The most touching. Most perceptive. The most soulful. Although here it is necessary to hold high-tonality expressions, because the soul is divided into large and small pieces can not. This is one whole, and any Chaplin masterpiece taken at our discretion is a virtuoso pantomime of the soul. Charlie began not with a joke, but from the heart, whereby he arranged for the film a reasonable expectation of the smart, and not funny "at a time." It is the cordiality and warmth of humanity that transforms the picture into what belongs to the absolute, which is adorned with the hallmark of "great cinema" and is awarded a prestigious cult. Than the "Baby" is more beautiful and more affectionate, the deeper, the more incomparable and incomprehensible its axiom. Through the alliteration of lyrical scenes Chaplin recites a story about the father and son. Laconic acrostic plot plot Chaplin is for us a word, an unknown, a cell, encrypted under the asterisk. Everyone will see in him a personal meaning, everyone will understand this word in his own way, however, the core of this meaning is one. And laid in this film.
They embrace a strong grip of mutual fear and love ... And we understand that there is a cement bridge between them that can not be destroyed, not allowed. Under the sweet poster of the comedy, a powerful drama with a planetarium of feelings and emotions hides. The romanticism of family optimism is wrapped up in the treble clef of dramatic art, while the dense melancholy rings the title circumstance. Charlie Chaplin wrote a dithyramb to his father's heroism and maternal love, singing it in the accordion of the voice-over orchestra and the expressive play of the actors. "Kid" destroys the stereotyped performance, and the Tramp becomes a father inclined, in addition to a chronic habit to get into all sorts of trouble, to philanthropic activity. He found the abandoned child and sheltered himself. He has done good, to which not many will dare. Good, a reward for which is not required. The son became the motive of life for our hero, an indispensable plaque reflecting the truisms of happiness. Compassion awakens from the first frames, black and white, but contrasted dramaturgy and carefully polished by the unobtrusiveness of the comedy, which is present in a second-round decoration. You believe every act of heroes, their stupidity and heroism. You smile when Jackie Kugag laughs, and frowns with restraint when he cries. Chaplin avoids the stereotyped character with the help of their inconstancy. The tramp ceases to be a charming idiot and turns into the ideal of all wives and mothers. The son mimics a quick-witted hooligan into a golden child. No, the characters do not change - they blossom before us.

The father takes his child by the hand, and with the wings on their back they gracefully fly up like angels ... And we realize that this is a magical acrobatic stunt of artistry. The director perfectly uses metaphors, while not flying away with them too far and high, adhering to clear focus. Sometimes I want to admire the duo of compositional techniques and visual experiences, to which, undoubtedly, Charlie is biased. At that time, it could be special assembly glues, transitions, "invisible" ropes, props, costumes ... However, the main special effect is the Tramp. The same pants, shoes, a bowler, a cane, a mustache make us happy. Do not just forget about one more, the necessary element - the most Charlie Chaplin.

"Life is a tragedy, when you see it close-up, and comedy, when you look at it from afar. "© Charles Spencer Chaplin.

68 minutes of happiness ...

Close all doors, turn off the light and plunge into joy, laughter, tears and just the atmosphere of good and warmth. And then, when the screen goes blank, I want to call my relatives, embrace everyone, understand that there is no one nearer and again - all together - to watch this film ...

Charles Chaplin, in my opinion, did not shoot the movie. He filmed life - the one he saw, the one that he wanted to see and dreamed about. And each time his Tramp is somewhat utopian; he is a great dreamer, but also a great hard worker, and when he does not get something for the hundredth time, he does not despair, but continues to live. And when the Kid accidentally hits him, with whom he has no idea how to handle, he does not throw it (although, admittedly, there were attempts, but this is more of a moment's confusion), but takes in his humble life. This is the highest manifestation of humanity ...

A lot of lovely moments, especially everything that concerns the boy's upbringing. About Charlie do not have to say much - who saw at least one of his films, especially the period of the Tramp, will understand everything. Jack Coogan deserves special attention; this little charm throughout the movie makes you interrupt what happens with phrases such as "what he is cute / pretty / talented / charming." It is a pity that the future movie fate did not work out, but apparently it is necessary - that we remember it Baby ...

Be sure to watch this movie, to at least an hour to remember that there are such concepts as sympathy, kindness, mercy. And that there is a real movie.

"For an invaluable contribution to the fact that cinema has become an art in the twentieth century"

What would have happened to the cinema now, if the world had not recognized a simple slum-lad with such a simple name, Charlie Chaplin. Whatever the modern pictures, if Chaplin did not come into the world of cinema - we will never know, and, frankly speaking, we do not want to know this.

Charlie Chaplin is a man who radically transformed the world of cinema, a man who in many ways we owe the cinema to today. It was he who first created the cinematic image, a man with his character, he created not just a "doll" that can not speak, he created a person with feelings and emotions that can empathize, knows how to be sad, can understand, well, and most importantly - can laugh.

As a rule, comedies are always associated with Chaplin's name, because he, first of all, is a brilliant comedian, and then everything else. But it was not there. Where the place of comedy was put on, there is a place for the real drama itself. "Baby" is the very case. And do not say that "The Kid" - this is a pure drama, by no means, it is rather a tragicomedy, in which two, at that time, almost incompatible genre are so elegantly and skillfully combined.

"Kid" - one of the most difficult paintings of Chaplin. The history of its creation is very fascinating. At the time of filming and editing, Chaplin was getting divorced from his next wife, who as a compensation demanded this particular material. The actor and director had to hang around the country in order to save his offspring. Fortunately, he saved it, and the light saw this great creation of the legendary man.

Probably there was in the era of a little movie so skilful actor and director, which was Chaplin. His "Baby" is a great creation not only of the 30s of the XX century, but also of the entire time of the existence of the cinema. Comede managed to combine a very touching story about the "foundling" with its humorous inserts.

For me personally, "Kid" - it's still a drama, and for this there are objective reasons. The picture tells of the true love between the adopted child and the father, who himself barely making ends meet took the care of the baby. For fifty minutes the director, and he, in combination, the actor shows us the real bright love between father and son. Chaplin dilutes these light feelings with very amusing, and that there are funny, funny insertions from the life of these two vagabonds. The work of the glazier, the scene of the fight - this and many other things do not allow the smile to go away, but it's still a drama.

At the very end, when the "mother" of this child is declared, when the social. service tries to take the kid from the hands of his father, then there is no place for a smile. Here begins the real empathy, the desire to help the protagonist in the fight against this injustice, or else you see any careless mother after five years suddenly you see and thought again, it is asked where these five years when her child grew, began to talk and walk she was, but that's another conversation. Plus, all this happens under almost never stopping the smartest music.

Despite the visual simplicity of Chaplin's paintings, there is such a mysterious and attractive in them. In ten years, this film will be a hundred years, a century, and this movie is still alive. "Kid" is an excellent movie library, which can be reviewed dozens of times, and each time it is viewed as the first. As they say: "All ingenious is simple" - to make sure of this, it is enough to look at this picture, and all the questions themselves will disappear.

Chaplin filmed a movie for the people, the people paid for it with love. And at one time Chaplin was expelled from the United States, let him return there only in 1972 to receive the "Honorary Oscar" - the love for the work of Chaplin in America remained, and it remains to this day throughout the world.

"Kid" is a true masterpiece, a golden classic of world cinema that touches to the depths of the soul, makes you laugh, filling you with warmth and light. Charlie Chaplin is the "little man of the big cinema", to whom modern movies owe a great deal.

"If your boyfriend beat my brother, then I'll beat you!" ©

To begin with, I consider this film the best in the career of the great and unique comedian, the best actor of the twentieth century, Charles Spencer Chaplin, who became famous all over the world thanks to this full-length tape, which is simply, but very capaciously called "Kid". Despite the fact that the fate of the project is very long-suffering, after all, after the shooting of the wife of Chaplin, Mildred Harris tried by court to take away Charlie's right to the film, but Chaplin left with material in Salt Lake City, where he hid from the bailiffs quietly completed the editing of the film . In general, the first time I saw the "Baby" for a long time, and I wanted to review it after watching the movie "Chaplin" with Robert Downey Jr. in the role of Charlie, where the trial and installation story at the Salt Lake Hotel was just shown. With great pleasure, having reviewed one of the first full-length works of Mr. Chaplin, I realized that he was no better than him, and that his person had a much greater influence on the cinema than the filmmakers, the Lumiere brothers, and now specifically about the film.

The plot tells the story of how a single mother leaves her child in a car near a rich house, but the car is stolen by bandits and found that in the back seat a small child left him in a landfill where the baby is found by the Rogue who sheltered the youngster and starts about him take care and teach everything that he himself knows. Four years later, the Kid grew older and began to earn a living together with the Ousted Man, but one day the young man fell ill and the doctor arrived who found that the child was not adopted and was homeless and called "a society for the management of cases of homeless children", but the Tramp stood up against the onslaught of those who came to him commissars, takes the Baby with him and starts hiding, flinging at the doss-houses, and at that time the mother who abandons the Kid becomes a famous and rich actress who wants to return her child back ... The script is magnificent, and given that fact so that all this was invented back in the 1921st year, then all amazed. A separate word deserves the cast:

Charlie Chaplin is amazing in the role of the cult character of the Vagabond, who will become the visiting card of the great comedian in the future. In "Little Boy" Chaplin had not only all kinds of grins and the same confuse the audience, he also had to show dramatic talents of his acting skills and I can say that with this rather difficult task Charlie managed perfectly well, having played one of the best roles in his career. It is worth noting and the fact that Chaplin not only played a major role in the film, but also was a director, scriptwriter, producer, composer and even did the montage, so that these feats and achievements of the famous comedian can not be repeated by anybody, it may be all at once, but that everything will be at the highest level like that of Chaplin, no one can do, bravo! Amazingly played by the little Jackie Coogan, who played the role of Baby and made his character both funny and funny, and at the same time not serious and smart by the years, so it's possible to say "bravo" about Kugan's game, since Jackie absolutely deserves it . She played the role of mother Edna Purvins, who in the future will play with Chaplin more than once or twice. The music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky is very carefully selected, which is concisely combined with what is happening on the screen and complements the already chic atmosphere.

Outcome: one of the best films of Charlie Chaplin, which combines the genres of comedy, drama and the so-called tragicomedy. No matter how bad the events unfold during the course of the picture, everything will end well, which once again proves Chaplin's positive views on everything, including life!

No words

I have not written reviews for a long time.

Probably, because for a long time already not a single film has awakened in me a new feeling that I would like to share. All washed up, chewed ...

But one day ... I very reluctantly decided to check, but why did Charlie Chaplin's silent films get such high marks? For what? 30th years! For what?! What there can be such !?

Anyway.

The reason for my curiosity was the autobiographical film of Richard Attenborough, with the same name "Chaplin". With Richard Downey the Younger in the title role.

Whatever it was, I was curious, what kind of films did Charlie Chaplin himself shoot? In the film-autobiography "Chaplin", there was one fragment from the film "Kid", which I remember very much. Fragment, when the boy asks for the Hobo back when they take him, try to take him away. So I decided to start with this movie ...

He began to look without much enthusiasm, so, without preparation, fluently. I think I'll look at the snippet and draw a conclusion - should we look at all or not? But when I turned on the film, and from the first frame, I could not take my eyes off. Yes, I watched to the end in one breath, then rewound and looked again from the beginning!

It's incredible.

I did not believe myself. The feeling that awakened the film in me was new to me. For yourself! I did not expect this from myself. I did not expect that a sentimental person lives in me.

This is above all praise.

The film is naturally absolutely without words, like all his other pictures, but it is extremely clear, very clear! It reminded me of reading a book where we build all the images in our imagination. So in Chaplin's films, you do not need words, everything is clear without words and even want to say that words would have been absolutely superfluous in his films. To some extent, all that is supposedly being said in the film, we build for ourselves in the most suitable manner for us. And the music, which, incidentally, he himself wrote, comes to the film so naturally that it feels like the film was shot to music, and not the music was written for the film.

As for the movie "Kid" itself, the most striking thing is how simply stunning, truly, without a gram of falsehood, at the highest level, was played or even experienced, the role of the Baby! As if, Charlie Chaplin caught these moments by a fluke. Babe, like children who are in life, do not know how to lie, so he, as if really experiencing all the events of the film, and it's just imperceptibly someone takes it off. You believe his emotions unquestioningly and empathize revealing his essence to himself, and marveling at his own emotions.

I do not know what he did, but how much this action looks simple, it's so brilliant!

I do not remember which movie I saw so much sincerity and purity of feelings.

This is magic, my friends!

How to express what would have been worthy of all that Charlie Chaplin did in this movie ...

Yes, perhaps, such words you will not pick up,

I have no words!

Good souls
