Having played enough with the angels in his first film, Scott Charles Stewart decided to switch to vampires, because they are now at the peak of popularity, and not speculating about this topic would be just blasphemy. Having promised promises to Paul Bettani of the golden mountains, at least, the cunning director again obtained this actor in his vile little hands. Personally, I would never believe that Mr. Paul in his right mind gave his consent to the filming of this "masterpiece". After the disastrous “Legion,” Bettany had to cross out C. C. Stewart's name from the list of acquaintances, and have nothing to do with this person.
But let's talk about the "Shepherd". I did not like the film.
The first fattest minus - straightforward and simple, like five cents, the plot. For his description enough three or four sentences. I suspect that the script for this film fit on one sheet of A 4 format, and how else to explain the presence of a large number of gaps in the narration.
The second minus is a weak acting game. Paul Betanny the whole film walks with an absolutely impenetrable, stony face that does not express any emotions. It can be seen in the process of filming that it came to Paul that the "Shepherd" had the same consumer goods as the "Legion". But it was too late to retreat, the fee was paid, so I had to work it out. Well at least cute Cam Zhigande pleased. By the way, in his case is another story. This young actor is currently working on the principle: light up in as many films as possible in the company of famous actors, and then you may be noticed and invited to play the main role in an interesting film. And he learned this rule 100%: You can see Gigandet not only in the company of Paul Bettany, but also Christina Aguilera and Sher, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart ...
The third minus is a gray picture that depresses and provokes depressive thoughts. I refuse to believe that such a gloomy future awaits all of us: closed, isolated cities, whose inhabitants look like beggars or homeless people. I didn’t like what the vampires looked like: some eyeless, naked, monsters with huge teeth. It turns out that this is a completely separate form, and they have nothing to do with people. Their habits look more like animals, and the presence of intelligence is questionable.
As a result, “Shepherd” is another film-incompetent, which, to my great regret, comes out on screens with enviable constancy. But it will not be fair if I don’t note that compared to Legion, this film looks much better. So, three or four more films, and Scott Charles Stewart will have the perfect picture. But the "Shepherd" is not required to view.
For me personally, the positive aspects in this whole story are: Cam Gigandet, the animation at the beginning of the film, the Era style soundtrack and a short timekeeping. My score to the film
4 out of 10
