"Gentlemen prefer blondes" - a wonderful, excellent musical film. Why haven't I watched it before? Now this is one of my favorite comedies, along with the well-known "In jazz only girls."
“Happiness is not in money, but in purchases.” - M. Monroe.
The plot of the film is simple, but at the same time blundering and still remains relevant. Two friends Dorothy (Jane Russell) and Laurelle (Marilyn Monroe) are completely opposite to each other: one blonde, another brunette, one smart and smart, the other stupid, one believes in true love, the other wants to find a rich dad and love is not important, but this all they remain best friends. They go on tour to Paris, but a private detective is watching them, or rather, Laurel. And all this in order to dissuade Gus (Tommy Noonan) to marry Laurel ... This is not a very complicated, but very cheerful and positive story.
“Two things must be beautiful in a girl — it’s a look and lips, because with a look she can fall in love, and with her lips she can prove that she loves.” - M. Monroe.
Marilyn Monroe 100% justifies the role of stereotypical blonde. All blondes are blonde! She just masterfully manages to play a silly person who looks like a small child in an adult appearance. Money is her hobby. Diamonds are best friends. By the way, the phrase “The best friends of the girls are diamonds!” From this film, and not from the song of the band Via Gra, as everyone used to think. From the song ““ Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friends, ”performed by the inimitable Marilyn Monroe.
"- Of course I know! You think I was just born yesterday?
“Well, sometimes I just have no other explanation ...”
Monroe as always irresistible. You can talk for a long time about the most beautiful woman in the world ... but still let's talk about her heroine - Laurel. She is a little bit stupid and sometimes, let's say, bears nonsense, naive, but this does not frighten men at all, but on the contrary attracts them like a magnet. “How do you do it?” Do you have Novocain in lipstick? ”- surprised her friend Dorothy.
Dorothy performed by Jane Russell is also very good. Her heroine is a brunette with a head, recognizing love rather than money of men, poignant, serious, strong.
"- The stone is not small, Dorothy?
- In three days you will not go round the train! ”
Great story, funny dialogues, great music, atmosphere of the 50s. Who has not watched MUST watch “Gentlemen prefer blondes”, because to miss this film is just a crime!
And lastly a toast from the main character of the film Lorelei:
"Sydney was born in a shirt,
Peel while the kidneys were working,
He barely walked, but he drank and drank ... "
10 out of 10
The memory of the inimitable Marilyn Monroe !!!
