When it came to a new story with new and some old characters from the TV series “The Vampire Diaries”, it became clear to me that, as such, originality should not be expected. Therefore, I regarded viewing the spin-off as a continuation of the Ancients, and not as a teenage mystic mixed in the drama of weak secondary lines.
The plot: the daughter of the original vampire Klaus Hope returns to school, where he studies, by definition, evil - vampires, werewolves, witches and others. And here the question arises: what to tell about them? And this is the only niggle of the plot, since the first two series do not carry the meaning - they just show the school. Other series still interesting to watch, but not entirely. Sometimes the hand and stretched to rewind some points, because why they are needed, but because the series should go 40 minutes! Remove unnecessary scenes and from the series would have remained some 20 minutes. And that's why…
First reason: characters. As it was written in the headline "for the amateur", and this is true. The series was created for fans of the "Ancients" and "The Vampire Diaries", as well as for teenagers, whom give a snotty love drama between a special girl and a boy. I think the authors gave too pretentious the name of the series, because among the legacy we see only Hope, for whom we watched in the Ancients and the twin Salzman, who have been seen in the Vampire Diaries. All the rest ... extras. Almost every minor character does not carry a meaning; they are only needed to show who is in school. But "Hey, we returned Alaric from the Diaries, as well as Jeremy, who ... also from the Diaries, so rejoice!" And that’s what keeps most of the audience. I, frankly, a so-so fan of this small universe, but I liked the Vampire Diaries, and I believed that the spirit, that atmosphere will always be. No, everyone is spoiled by characters who have not surrendered to anyone.
Yes, and from actors such as Matthew Davis, squeeze the last juice. The actors are trying to play, and the project is not bad chosen to declare itself. But the only ones who are nice to see who you believe in are the aforementioned Matthew Davis (Alaric Saltzman) and Daniel Rose Russell (Hope), which makes most guys sit solely because of their sweet face. As an actress, she plays at a decent level for herself (I wish I could see emotions like joy more often). Other actors playing teenagers try, but some invisible hand of Russian cinema is felt - they play their roles so flat.

The second reason, which is called the relationship of heroes. This is simply impossible to observe. I was hoping that besides Hope, the twins Salzman would introduce us to the school. But no, we ask a lot. We have to watch one girl (one of the twins, played by Kylie Bryant) break up with another girl, after which she walks all the time with inflatable lips. The second of the twins (I also don’t remember the name, since it’s boring to look at schoolchildren), which Jenny Boyd played is more like some kind of girl with an unbalanced psyche — so often includes a hysterical blonde.
Each of the characters interacts, but some sense or shift in the plot is not traced, they just speak for a couple of minutes, and then again, and also to get the material shot for 40 minutes.
And it would be okay if only these serial holes, which are characteristic of many teen serials. But special effects ... What year is it? What, what? .. 2018? Almost the end of the year? Then why the dragon, the flames look like the same teenage actors were engaged in graphics ?! The gargoyle is still alright, it was tolerable. But after the dragon, I began to hope that the series will be closed after the first season. (This autumn from CW is very scarce in updates, you are only happy about "Riverdale", "Supernatural" and superhero TV shows, which should also be closed.)
My opinion is that you can watch “Heritage”, believe in its success, if you are an ardent fan of “The Diaries” and “The Ancients”, but think about whether you should spend 40 minutes on this instead of a TV series, where there is a good drama , great game, plot and normal effects. Personally, I will inspect, but spend almost an hour, I will not - I will rewind to Hope's face, and then, through the insert “in the previous series,” guess what I had squandered so important in the last series.
