The free interpretation of the phrase from Jay Jay’s interview reflects the essence of a sequel more than ever. If in the first part we were “chewed” for a long time, “put into our ears” the epic character of what was happening and “rubbed their faces” with fans with very free variations on the theme of the main characters, their characters and events, in this part the “Bad Robot” team surpassed itself. In fact, "Startrek: Retribution" reminded me of last year's "Avengers" - the same fascinating visual attraction with a simple plot. The same version with a good selection of actors, but with an emphasis only on some of them. The same grandiose work of visualizers, but not at all respecting the work of physicists ...
I must say that in my humble opinion, this is not a minus - only this can be squeezed out of the story of “Star Trek”, probably. I did not watch the entire series as a child, but the few episodes that I managed to see clearly painted a picture of what is happening: here are good uncles on a good ship - they fight against bad uncles either on ships or on planets.
Separately, I would like to mention Benedict Cumberbatch and Zachary Quinto, who, in my opinion, brilliantly coped with their roles. Spock, although he became even softer and more humane in this film, turned out to be more convincing for Quinto. Well, Benedict is just a rising star! I do not remember such a reinforced concrete villain for a long time at the box office movie!
Summarizing the above, Abrams squeezed the maximum out of what fans around the world cherish and gave great hope that the new “ZV” will at least be at a level where they want to go to IMAX3D too.
